Mar 6, 2023 8:47 AM | Should our Work Plan Area Goals for this RFA match the goals that we currently have for our tobacco grant/funding, or do they need to be different? | Work Plan Area Goals can change from year to year. They do not need to remain the same. |
Mar 6, 2023 9:32 AM | For WPAG 1, the teaching of the 6 lessons from the Stanford curriculum to high school/middle school youth, does the CP have to complete all of the lessons themself, or can the Health teacher teach these lesson, or some of them, if needed? | We anticipate the partnership being the lead educator for all the lessons. Life happens and things come up so talk to your CHC, but the expectation is to complete all 6 lessons, in person. |
Mar 15, 2023 8:30 AM | Will we still need pre-approval from the Department to conduct the You and Me, Together Vape Free curriculum even though it is already listed as an approved grant activity? | Pre-approval is not required, however each CP’s will submit a “rough plan” that outlines the school name, address, teacher name and teacher email so that the Division can follow up if needed. |
Mar 15, 2023 8:31 AM | Will the grant assist in covering dues, membership fees and/or training fees for AC4C opportunities (and/or other tobacco prevention related trainings) for staff to expand their prevention knowledge and skill set? | Costs for trainings, membership fees and dues are allowable costs that may require pre-approval. |
Mar 20, 2023 9:38 AM | For WPAG 1, our target area is to establish an ISTEP Chapter(s). Are there consequences if we are unable to do so? Or could we transition to a different target area if we are unsuccessful in establishing an ISTEP Chapter? | There are no consequences for not meeting a target number. Changing targets in the middle of a grant year is not generally acceptable without some other consideration. We understand that your target area may not be met towards the beginning of the year and may take time. In this case, you would report on strategies you are working towards meeting your goal. We realize challenges and barriers may come up, and at that time you can talk with your CHC. |
Mar 20, 2023 10:10 AM | For WPAG 3, our target area is to increase the number of Quitline Iowa Users. What is the best way to estimate a good target number for our county? | Review your historical number of calls per/month to determine your percentage increase goal, typically 2-5%. A link to Quitline reports is provided in the weekly update emails. Lots of great information in those reports including which providers in your service area are referring folks to QL. |
Mar 22, 2023 10:09 AM | For WPGA#1 option C, is the intent to deliver the 6 lesson curriculum over the course of 6 weeks or can it be combined into 2, 3 sessions, 3,2 sessions etc? | There is not a required time frame for the 6 sessions to be completed, if you are able to access the class more than 1 time per week that is fine, as long as you plan to complete all 6 lessons. Please outline in your plan you submit to your CHC. |
