Project Title: AEA Early Childhood Network

Funds appropriated shall be allocated to the area education agencies to assist school districts in developing program plans and budgets under this section and to assist school districts in meeting other responsibilities in early childhood education.
Scope of Work
The funding for this contract encompasses salary/benefits/travel of the AEA early childhood consultant whose primary responsibility is early childhood general education. This consultant will participate in the AEA Early Childhood Leadership Network with the AEA early childhood special education consultant and provide professional development, coaching, and technical assistance regarding general early childhood education, preschool, and pre-kindergarten. The AEA Early Childhood Leadership will participate in a collaborative inquiry to support the work.
The grantee will provide consulting, in-service, technical assistance to:
a. Grant Programs Serving At-Risk 3- and 4-year-old Children;
b. Grant Programs Serving At-Risk 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old Children; and
c. Statewide Voluntary Preschool Programs.
The designated consultant will coordinate early childhood activities and information with Department of Education Early Childhood Consultants. Coordination may include providing technical assistance and support for the implementation of the Iowa Early Learning Standards as well as participation in task groups including response to intervention, literacy and others to increase children ready to succeed in school.
The designated consultant will attend AEA Early Childhood Leadership Network meetings. In addition, the designated AEA early childhood special education consultant will attend the AEA Early Childhood Leadership Network meetings.
The AEA will submit an application by the designated due date. The AEA award amount is located in the attachments.
Fifty percent (50%) of the grant funds will be paid upon acceptance and approval.
The remaining fifty percent (50%) of the grant will be paid upon or near January 1, 2014.
